Every writer and storyteller needs to understand worldbuilding – an evergreen storyworld to support characters and storylines across platforms. This group is for writers and creators who would like to extend their range and develop platform-neutral story worlds.
Classic narrative pillars are fundamental and in this group concepts are developed into worlds which will be elaborated into Story Bibles – encompassing history, mythology, world rules, settings, messaging, characters and more.
Special emphasis is placed on collaborative group work, sharing creative methods and insights. Applications to this group need not be presented with clear platform plans – as storyworld and platform development go hand in hand. Participants will experience case studies from blockbuster film, theatre, Virtual Reality, consumer products, book, magazine, television and web series as we encourage adoption of best practices in development.
Workshops in this group are extended across the BOOK, FILM and SERIES group to workshop multi-platform potential and facilitate creative exchange on character development and storytelling.
Applications are welcome from worldbuilders, creators, toy and consumer product designers, short form storytellers (social media, web, short stories), Games, Virtual Reality and Theatre – along with writers who wish to extend their range.
Each project should be targeted for use in the German and possibly the international market for children and youth.
Although the course will be conducted in English, participants can deliver their concepts either in German or in English.
